How about your condenser? A bad one will cause hard starting and rough running. If you just changed it, swap your old one back in. Even if you did not change it, double check that you got the wire properly reconnected when you changed the points. By messing with the speed, you're probably going to have timing/advance issues as well. The vet will have to tell you what distributor will work best for the speed you're running that engine. There were many different distributors used on those gassers, each set up for different advance curves. There should be a two-letter code stamped on the housing, post back with that code.
