It will whine some no matter what. The hydraulic system should be checked with a high pressure gauge, and a flow rater (meeter that shows flow rate. Do check the fluid level From the book. The TA is a Planetary gear set with two clutches, a TA clutch, and a Primary (regular) clutch. It also has a overrunning (one way clutch that looks kinda like a roller bearing). If the TA clutch is out, or the one way clutch is bad, it will not pull a load in TA position (it may kinda work with no load in low gear, or second, or from no TA to TA in any gear till a load is placed on it. I would get it repaired, The TA is a fine feature and "makes" the tractor way more flexible and handy. It may cost a bunch if all is done by others. Or you can have an adventure. (requires splitting the tractor into three pieces). Getting a book is the most important thing you can do. From here, or binder books, or Ebay. Keep in touch, JimN
