OK, I drove the 1066 this afternoon. It seems to run good. Has a little blow-by but hey it is 30+yr old. Sounds good and purrs like kitten. Noticed a little gear noise when running in 3rd and 4th high but not something would be considered abnornal to me. Cab is fairly quite as it has cab kit but parts of this kit need replaced. Think I saw on forum where new kits were around 200.00. Tach does not work so hrs are not accurate. Everything else working. It does have water filter kit on cooling system and not sure why T. Vet asked me. Tires are probably a little more worn than I said before. Probably 40% but does have duals. This may be bad thing as duals stress final drives. TA worked good and shifted fairly smooth with small lurch and no hesitation (as I suppose is suspected) from low to high. The worst thing I see with this machine is cosmetics and I can fix that with a couple days work and the leaks are an issue but I can do those too. Main thing is engine/ drive train and all seems good. Still have not got hold of owner and will do before I make any decisions. Anything else I need to look for??? Asking price 8000.00 firm!!!???
