140 rear end noise

140 farmall. I think it is a 1974. My grandaddy bought it new. From the first time i remember riding on it. I remember a whine in reverse and has always had a whine of some sort in all forward gears. some gears louder than others. None were very loud. Reverse always being the loudest by far. We recently changed the rearend grease 90wt gear oil. Since then it has developed a terrible whine in all forward gears much louder than any I have heared before. Gear case was filled correctly and since the noise we added another qt. Just to see what happened, no change.
