I�ve got a 560D with a 282 in it that I�ll put against any gasser in the winter. It will start @ -5 F on just glow plugs! Trick on the 282�s is to keep the pump, injectors, and glow plugs in good shape. Biggest internal problem was when most of them got rebuilt in the past, the valve seats were ground into the heads but the seats were never replaced. This eventually lowers the compression just enough so they won�t start in the winter. I know, as I had trouble with mine starting until I fixed the head back to factory specs.
