Cap, There are some folks who just do not get along well with diesels. They just don't. They don’t quite understand ‘em and they just don’t want anything to do with the brawny beasts. They don't like the noise, they don't like the smell, they don't like the initial cost of ownership & the resulting required maintenance and they just plain don't like anything ‘bout the old ‘rattlers’. They wanna hit the key and go, just like with the family mini van; they want 'em quiet and they want 'em smooth. And, just as you and I like our diesels, that is their prerogative to admire the gassers. More power to ‘em, I say; it's okay by me, it is totally their affair and it's their business. I'm in your camp however & I'm older than dirt, but I’ve never ran across an IH D282 yet that wouldn't run cheaper, last four times as long, or out-lug it's gas counterpart and yes, even ALWAYS start at 30 below zero. Ya just gotta love the old hammerin' things! Did I mention that I like IH diesels? :>) Best to you and yours, Allan
