I have a 715 combine with the 301 diesel (282 without sleeves) and it will always start good. In the summer maybe hold in on the glow plugs for 10 seconds and it is off and running. In the winter it starts real good when combining corn when it is 0 out. One year we were combining and it got to -18 one night and I hooked the pickup jumpper cables to the battery and it started right off after holding in on the glow plug for 2 minutes. I always felt that you ran the battery half down in cold weather heating up the golw plugs. I have some friends who used their 560 D on a loader feeding and they made a bracket and hung a 12 volt battery on the loader frame and hooked to the starter too and it started lots better. These were plainly not a winter tractor with te 282D
