Bill if your 400 is factory IH it never used the pipe.As other reply said they used a short pipe
in front hole in head maybe 1 1/2 to 2 inch long.
Also rocker cover used a hole in top piped to air cleaner pipe.M and SM used a hole out back of head to air
cleaner pipe.M-SM cover only had bolt holes in it.
