Supporting SA lift arm from axle casting?

Hey, guys.
Looking at other factory three-point setups, it seems to me that a lot of companies screw the pins that hold the lower lift arms into the transmission or axle housings. It would be easy enough for me to get a Cat. I 7/8" pin with 7/8" NF threads and cut it down to 5/8" NC threads and screw it into the axle housing where the drawbar usually bolts up. I wouldn't put a whole lot of weight on it-- I'd be using it with a pair of lower lift arms connected to the upper lift arms (hydraulics) to pull a 5' bush hog and change pitch as needed. Is that too much strain to put on the axle housings? I'm not worried about paring the pins down from 7/8 to 5/8" because Cat. I pins are available in both sizes (the 5/8" are NF threads so they won't srew into the axle housing.)

I appreciate y'all's input (even if you do have to tell me this is a dumb idea!)
