Setting points on a 48 H

The last 3or4 times I wanted to use my 48 H I had to re-adjust the points.When it failed to start each time,I would remove the dist. cap and the points were set at .050 to.060.Everything seems to tight and clean.When I set them back to .020 it starts good.What is causing them to move? Like I say,They are tight even when set wrong.
