You might also check your battery cables. I had my starter rebuilt and it didn't make much difference. Once I put new heavy duty battery cables on it spins over like it was connected to 12 volts. Mr. Hugh MacKay has been telling people for a long time that you need to change your battery cables every couple of years and these old 6 volt systems will perform just fine. He was correct in my case.
