Help with troubleshooting starting a Cub Cadet 682

I am having trouble starting our Cub Cadet 682. The battery has 309 crank amps and the starter motor is working properly. I would appreciate it so much if someone could help me troubleshoot this problem. What and/or where should I look and test next? My mechanical knowledge is growing but presently somewhat limited. However, I'm a motivated learner. Please help -- the grass is growing. Thanks so much,
