Sounds like you need to check your battery cables and wiring from the ignition switch to the solenoid (if it has one) and then the connection at the starter. Battery cables can become corroded inside the insulation and cause problems like you are describing. Try bending the cables and see if they bend fairly easy. There is bound to be some resistance when you bend them but if they are corroded inside you should hear the corrosion breaking apart. Hope this helps some!!
