If the damage is only to the outer coating and or fabric of the wiring you may be able to repair this damage with a product called shrink tubing. It should be available at any electronic shop or even at some auto parts places. You just cut it to the length you need and slip it over the wire and use a heat gun to warm it up and it shrinks down and kind of molds itself right over the wire/cable. It comes in different sizes in diameter for what ever size wire you are covering. Once it is shrunk, you should have a waterproof and wear resistant coating back on the wires.
