Bob, Thanks again. Yes, I do have a steady stream of gas coming out of the carb bowl drain plug and it quits once I put the transfer lever back into diesel. I do have another question if you don't mind. My neighbor happened to have an old IH MD manual that I was reading last night. They refer to a "snap" that should occur when you move the transfer lever. Well, mine does not "snap", in fact it's quite smooth. It doesn't want to stay in the gas position without holding it there manually. But there certainly isn't a "snap". This "snap" they are referring to, is that something that goes overcenter? I don't see anything in the linkage that should "snap" on either side of the engine but maybe there's something I'm missing or did I must misinterpret the manual? One other thing, the motor seems to turn over at the same speed whether the starting valves are open or closed (lever in gas or diesel). I would have thought the motor would have turned over easier (faster) when the lever is in gas which is supposed to reduce compression from approx. 15:1 to 5:1. Once again, thank you very much for your time and thoughts, I appreciate it.
