There is a real good possibility that thealuminum oil slinger gear has lost a tooth. They are known to do that . Mine did. It was suggested by a mechanic at the IH dealer at that time that I break the rest of the gear off. I didn't. I replaced it and all of the bearings and seals. A helpful hint. These are the same gears for the most part as the B. C, super C, a40, etc. When you pull the top cover off to look at it, make certain you don't bend the reverse fork. A neighbor did, and we had a heck of a itme figuring out the problem.
