756 battery conversion

My 756 diesel's 6 volt batteries (875 CCA) are getting pretty old and don't hold a charge like they used to. I'm figuring on replacing them and thought I'd replace with twin 12 volt batteries (realizing I need to change the cable configuration). I'm thinking I ought to be able to get 12 volt batteries of the same physical size that would each be about the same 875 CCA. Would this be an advantage to the 6 volt's in series. Thanks folks.
