M ign. ?

Well the old coil went on the M yesterday. It has a 12v conv. so I was wondering what 12v coil could I put in (model from another tractor) and should the condensor be replaced? And I have a motorcraft alt. and it's charging out of it but nothing is getting to the battery. There was a wire that went to the amp guage. Then another wire that was doubled at the alt. then single from there to a toggle switch on the box by the light switch and then a wire from the toggle switch to the amp guage. I was told to flip the switch when I put the ign. switch on. Could I cheat and run a wire straight to the battery from the alt.?
