Brakes? They're supposed to have brakes? Just kidding, my B has a froze up left brake and a marginal right brake, so I got that ahead of me, too. Yes, you can adjust the brakes at the turnbuckles. If you can jack the tractor up and support it safely with both rear wheels off the ground, do so, and with the tractor running in 4th gear and brake pedals locked together, apply the brakes and see if one wheel stops first. If so, adjust until they both stop together. The A and B have band brakes, with the mechanism just outboard of the transmission case, so you will need to remove the final drives to get at the brakes. It's not a difficult job, they tell me, but one that involves some heavy parts, so if you don't have a shop hoist, you will need a couple good sized helpers. The bands can be purchased for around 40-50 bucks a side. If you still have some stopping power, my bet is you can get by with just adjusting them.
