Can it be used for heavy tillage? Yes. Were they built to do it? I've never seen any IH manual that said you can't. However, we had a 656 hydro and used it only for loader work and the hydro was getting weak around 7000 hours with no heavy tillage ever done with it. Starting it and using it for feeding when it was 20 below might have hurt it also. Personally, I wouldn't use a hydro to pull hard very long - they are way more useful on loaders, habines, snowblowers, and combines. Steven
