Yes you can fix it there. As for whether or not it will destroy anything, that depends on what went wrong with. When I got my M the square adapter that connects the clutch drive shaft to the input shaft was destroyed. If you have a beely pump in it you have to take that out. As long as it has an 11" clutch the whole thing can be removed through the hole where the belly pump mounts.
