Had to completely rebuild mine last year. If you can angle the front of the tractor downhill you will limit the amount of fluid lost. You will lose some as you are opening the back of the transmission. Unhook linkage and 4 bolts and slide straight back. Pretty heavy. There is an o-ring between the unit and casing. I had over $750 in parts rebuilding mine last year. Be careful, it is heavy.
