Surfacing Flywheel

I've heard conflicting suggestions regarding the flywheel surface at the clutch disk. One fellow with 45 years experience with N series mostly says that smooth is okay, just button it up. The other fellow says it should be textured with a swirl pattern. Nothing in the IHC service manual C-60 to C-284 discusses the resurfacing, so I'm inclined to bolt it up as-is (no grooves, just smooth).
