I heard somewhere that if you burn the insulation off copper wiring that it falls into a lower grade of copper and not worth as much..Any truth to it??...How about sitting around some evening with a couple of cold brewskies and a utility knife..Sure beats re-runs on TV...Unless it's Catherine Willows of CSI or Abby of NCIS....

That is true it goes from #1 to #2 it can be up to $1 lb difference #1 insulated was higher than #2

Most of the local scrap buyers around here will buy insulated wire "as is". They have machines to strip it. They'll dock you considerably for bringing in burnt wire. Better money for selling with insulation left on. State, county and local ordinance's against burning plastic anyway.
