do you have the crazy little tool to hold the tappets from tirning as you adjust them. bet you dont. im a old ford mec. to stop the lifters from turning i would a 1/8 hole in thr side of the guide for the lifter low enough to put the drill bitt in the slot in the lifter to keep from turning when you adjust it DONT RUN WITH THE DRILL BITT IN THE HOLE some one may have done this already. it saves a lot of time in the end.
.when drilling you remove the lifterwont cause any problems with oil pressure the oil will drain back in to the pan you do this to all lifters look it over you shuld see how it works

With the manifold removed, insert a curved pry bar into a port, pry the valve guide downward enough to remove the "C"-shaped keeper.

Then, pry the whole assembly upward, and out of the block.

Assemble the new valve, guide, and spring parts and keepers, and install the new assembly in the block, then install the "C"-shaped keeper.

Doing it this way, no exotic tools are needed.

Don"t forget to check the valve clearance; you have to grind off the end of the valve stem to get the correct clearance. Do this before you install the C keeper. Very carefully, I might add!!

Wayne,

I'm think'in his '52 will already have adjustable tappets... no grinding of the stems will be needed.
