THANK YOU!!! I'll program my e-bay to look for Grob, Ellis, Wilton, Rollin, DoAll and Startrite and see what fate rolls my way. Unfortunately, I only have single phase, but.... We'll see what happens.
.
I appreciate most especially the little comments and tips y'all always include in your posts. Those are always VERY helpful.

All the goodies that make a super wood cutting bandsaw work for steel except you want a much slower blade speed. I bought a Du-er wood saw with four rubber caster wheels in the box. I drive it with a speed reducing jack shaft in the belt drives. I'm thinking 100 fpm saw blade speed. Takes patience to cut thick stock with a fine toothed blade though.

Slow is Good! in reply to Gerald J., 02-05-2008 11:06:19
Slow cutting is good! With the way I work, the slower something cuts, the less likely I'll screw up the part. I just want it to cut cleanly without a lot of additional work after the cut. I expect some file-work to dress the cut, deburr it, etc.
