I swear I must have been dreaming as I spent 2 hours searching archives tonight with no success...I thought I had read somewhere on YT Mag in the past few months a technique to "refresh" cordless tool batteries by hitting them with a quick shot from an auto-battery charger or something like that. Does anyone else remember a thread like that? I have a couple DeWalt 18v that they want $100 for a pair to replace and thought I would try to reinvigorate them before breaking down and replacing.

You're not dreaming--here's the entire thread. (or at least one of them--this subject has been covered a few times). Yes it works, and you don't have to disassemble the pack. I suppose you could, but I never have. No, it will not bring back a completely trashed battery to factory-new condition, but it will often let you get considerably more life from a "dead" battery.

It was here somewhere, and I read it on a different forum also. I was going to attempt it, but then I found out that each individual battery has to be removed from the pack, and each battery needs to be tested individually, and then only the dead batteries are to be "shocked". After working for at least 45 minutes trying to dis-assemble just one of the packs, I gave up, logged onto Amazon.com, and found brand new replacement packs for less than half the price of the store asking price.

No your not dreaming, i remember seeing it too. Although i can"t remember exactly how it worked either.
