OT WELL QUESTION

Have a driven inch and a quarter well on a rental property. The well is 50 ft. deep with a water static head of over 45 ft. Pumped with a shallow well system. There is plenty of water and the water recovery is good.
The question---Air is getting into the system. Get a glass of water for the first time in the day and it blasts a lot of air.
Has a Weltrol pressure tank that has air not water-logged.
Probably have seen this before but can't remember what causes this problem..

Hey Lenrey, I live here in N M and all the wells for 50 miles around have,or produce air. I've talked to the driller that has been drilling here since 1950 and he said no one has the answer. I even installed a "Burp" tank and that doesn't work. I can't believe all these wells have a cracked line etc. Jim in N M

possibly a pipe with a crack in it and sucking air? have to pull the whole thing to find it.

I have a water conditioner that has a little air compressor on it to pump air through minerals and regenerate it. I have had it where th check valve on tis little compresser gets magnesium caught in it and lets air get into the main water line.

Hi LenRay,

Look at what was posted on your last well problem as it's one in the same this time.

You might have a suction air leak but doubtful.

In some areas, there is "gas" in the water, which will rise to the top of the tank and plumbing, and give a blast when a faucet is opened after the system has satunused for a while.

A neighbor of mine had a LARGE pressure tank he would bleed gas off from time to time, and would sometimes light it, giving a big WHOOSH of flame.

Maybe a small leak in the pipe sucking in a small amount of air.

Maybe the water level lowers till the pipe is just at the top of the water, sucking a litle air. ...not likely.

The water level lowers and water squirts into the well above the water level and "cascades" down carring air bubbles with it. This happens with irrigation wells a lot.
