Jimmie, I bought my saw while I was building my house and I use every year primarily in fall and winter to clear out pine trees. I have never needed parts other than a few spark plugs and one time the little hose that oils the saw which I got at auto parts store. I have been very careful to use a true 16/1 mix. I buy Havoline 2 cycle oil and pour 8 oz of oil into one full gallon of gas. I do not use the auto sharper but sharpen myself with rat tail file. I have used 2 or 3 chains where I hit a rock or metal in the trees. I have a seperate gas can for my 32/1 Echo saw that I also have. The Echo starts much easier but the Craftsman has more power.

Hi tech4,

What chain have you been using? I have been told that the chain that works with the sharpner is no longer available. I don't plan to use tha sharpner any after this Chain that is on it is no longer any good. The book said that the chains that went with this saw had a new stone packed in with the chain. From what I can tell this saw really cuts. The chips are very large that it spits out. I never saw such big chips. I am sure that a new chain will be different.

Thanks,
Jimmie
