Parts washer solvent

I just bought a parts washer and wonder what is the best chemical to use in it. Any recommendations?

I use "SIMPLE GREEN".....water base, so can be reduced with water,,,I filter and drain at the end of each day --- it evaporates....You can get it at MIEJERS in gallon containers....

we use mineral spirits,less than 2.00 a gallon at walmart .

Go to the link below for a thread from Feb 8 on this very subject.

General consensus was that Agitene (produced by Graymills, sold by various companies such as Grainger, see page 2884 of their new catalog number 396) was a good solvent. Most gave low marks to water based solvents (which require heated wash tanks to work effectively.

As a parts washer is on my short list, along with a blast cabinet (Probably a TPTools 960 or larger) I have found this discussion very useful.

We have used ZEP Dyna 143 for years. We work on cranes and it takes off just about everything short of open gear grease pretty easily, and it'll take that off too given enough soak time. It's a good strong cleaner but it's formulated to where it doesn't dry out your hands like other solvents such as varsol do. We've tried alot of different cleaners over the years and overall this is the best stuff we've found so far.
