when it first happened!As a general rule, with anything electronic like cameras, if they get wet, shake off the excess water and then get them into the oven at like 150 to 200 degrees -- warm enough to really drive the water out, cool enough that any thermoplastics don't melt. Leave 'em there a good 6+ hours, overnight is fine. Last couple things I've done (I wear pagers/cell phones...and have multiple ponds on property) have come out OK. That was advise I got many years ago from Bell Atlantic when I brought them a cell phone, I've used for other stuff since. Get it into the oven ASAP -- the longer the water is in there, the greater the corrosion to wires & connections & such. Never did a camera, so I don't know if they're more heat sensitive, but v. almost certain loss otherwise I'd risk it, but at the lower end of that temperature scale. If we're suspecting it's just water between the lenses, this would drive out any residual. My fear in this case is you've had a deposit of minerals, etc from the water onto the lenses -- that probably would've happened with my method, too though.
