You my fellow patriotic Citizens must not catch the news.

My office has released a bulletin that all 7/16 wrenches have been recalled by Homeland Security until further notice due to the war effort. Updates will be released as needed.

We hope to rectify this problem on or around Nov 2, 2004

Thank you for your patriotism and patience. Uncle Tom

Your right of course, its the factors related to tractors i think trickling down. Folks have less to put into the old tractor due to the price of steel, plywood, fuel ,food and medical care skyrocketing just to name a few and the national debt out of control again. I wish the big issue was still the president lied. But the economy was good and national debt paid.

The stupid thing is the president has to lie everyday, the people in china korea russia iran iraq, and so on are not honest with us or their own people and he has to be able to deal with them. I notice little George just never answers a direct ?. I'm not liberal but i know were not better off than we were 4 years ago and thats not to say we would be with Gore either. But with Clinton we knew what we had, and we know he could do the job and did a hell of a job paying our bills off back to the Reagan era. I'm wondering if gas is going to be $4 a gallon in 4 more years of Little George. At least clinton opened the fuel reserves to control prices and thought of the average man. Even red diesel is out of sight. Enough said. There are wrench sets leaving out the 7/16--don't know why. You better stock up on the 12 point if your bleeding a JD fuel filter or roosta master pump.

Unfortunately your ignorance has caused you to spout the typical liberal lines. Don't let facts get in your way, just babble whatever the tragedy networks tell you. I have owned my own business for over 25 years and am doing better now than ever. The simple reason is that I don't blame all my shortcomings on the government nor do I expect my government to hold my hand everytime I do anything. I don't ask for handouts and I don't make excuses, I just work hard.

Just one tidbit. When Slick Willie was president the unemployment rate was about 6% at one time during his tenure. The tragedy networks declared that to be full employment as you always have some people that can't work, won't work or are just unhireable. Now the rate is around 5 1/2%.

Your a rude guy. Hope that bug in your as* stops biting. Your rude and need to be answered. Look up the meaning of manners in a dictionary, you forgot what your parents,or church, or school taught you about them.

I see the facts everytime i go to the gas station, pay my light bill or buy a sheet of plywood, next is suppose to be concrete. Learn to think for yourself, its right in front of you at the cash register.

I don't agree with the tree hugger laws, that have been relaxed giving your bus. a boom. (one of the few and one that hasn't gone offshore, but wetbacked for sure amigo.) Thank low interest rates you super genius--GREENSPAN not bush.
Clinton cut many budgets including military, if he was wrong how did we still kick butt in Iraq and Afgan? Because we had enough. Look at all the surplus your tax dollars paid for being sold on ebay for pennies on the dollar now. And he got the price of fuel back down-quick. Clinton did try to help the little man, he tried to give everyone health care. Until the Insurance co's and pill co's and everyone else in the industry who makes a killing smeared his effort so they could continue to rake it in. Do you remember those big ad campaigns and commercials paid for by those drug and insurance co's? If you can think for yourself consider this...your guaranteed mail delivery by your goverment 6 days a week. If you have a heart attack and your insurance info is missing or wrong or your can't afford it, your likely to die. No one will help you. Goverment can't solve all problems. But in the richest nation in the world every citizen should have the right to medical care and medicine as needed and the quality of life that provides. If we had that, we would have DR's who are in it because they care about people and enjoy their work instead of people and huge corporations who just want $$$. I can't support any one in either party who continues to ignore the sick and elderly. We need to help those that can't help themselves because of greedy corporations. That's what decent people do. Already drugs have been dropped from medicare 's approved list We won't see guarnteed care under little George but the goverment will continue in the mail business and George's favorite chruch will get a handout. All churches have applied for his program, but none have been given money but his! You Talk about goverment shouldn't solve problems or give handouts. Our Fore fathers made chruch and state seperate because they thought the two shouldn't mix at all. Right now were paying for teen programs in George's church in Houston TX. Shouldn't their parents pay for their recreation?

It's too bad it's not an open system and others haven't challenged him from his party. He would smear them because he has the $ to do so. I can't agree with all issues with either party, there all a little bit crooked. But i can agree with a strong economy, low debt and inflation and Clinton did it, Bush hasn't. LIKE IT OR NOT. He was a leader and we need one who can think for himself. Right now the middleclass is being destroyed in M.OP
Let's get back to tools, maybe there's something you can contribute instead of insults. Do you help anyone or just read to help yourself, ask yourself what have you contributed. Nothing on the board except ill will.

I am rude? Apparently anyone who disagrees with you is rude then. I think referring to the President of the United States as a stupid imbecile and "little george" is rude not to mention very disrespectful.

However, if you think I am some big greedy corporation then so be it. I am just a simple guy who has worked hard since I was a kid and never looked to anyone to blame for my problems. In the 25 years I have been in business I have changed what I do a half dozen times in order to make a living. I don't do anything that I did when I started. The market changed so I did too. The reason I am self employed because I lost my job as a finish carpenter when President Carters 18% interest rates shut down the home building business.

As far as taking care of the elderly, my Dad passed away last month at the age of 82. I took care of any medical costs that the VA didn't cover so he wouldn't have to worry about it. He was also a lifelong construction worker who died a modest man.

If you want socialized medicine then move to Canada and see how poor their care is.

We live in a capatalistic society where the cost of goods depends on many factors. If you want to blame the President for the cost of plywood, then go ahead. I,m sure he can control the global market. The rst of your statements don't make any sense so I won't address them.

As I told Mr. Burrhead, he may disagree with me but I respect his right to do so. I certainly wouldn't condemn him for thinking the way he does. I enjoy listening to different points of view but don't have much time for arguing, name calling and spewing statements that are just not true. You can get your point across alot better without the condescending tone.

I read this forum alot as I am always learning new things even if I disagree with some of the responses. Be well all.

Looks like your father partook of the "free medical" benefits from the US government VA.

"As far as taking care of the elderly, my Dad passed away last month at the age of 82. I took care of any medical costs that the VA didn"t cover so he wouldn"t have to worry about it."

Am I wrong or is the VA funded by taxes?
Doesn"t sound too capitalistic to me to take advantage of government welfare.

Don't care about the rest of this thread, but the last comment got me ticked: Veteran's benefits are EARNED. They are not a handout to anybody, rather they are an obligation that the people of the United States have to veterans for services rendered and injury and illness resulting thereto.

As long as I'm talking, I think calling names of any Predident, whether Mr. Bush or Mr. Clinton, is downright rude. Although I believe one of them was the worst President in history, I have never, and would never, call him a name in public.

From the Thread National Defense

Hey Bkeepr,
I don't know if you or anyone else is still monitoring this thread. I remember back in the sixties when JFK was shot, there was a fanatical group who ran a full back page ad in the newspaper. This was in the Dallas morning news on the day he was shot there. The ad accused Mr Kennedy of Treason, but began with "Mr. President".

I think that was a form of ettiquette taught and practiced in that era or earlier. I can't recall being taught that myself. It was proper to refer to the president in other terms if it was positive. All the way with JFK was a popular chant of supporters. An interesting tidbit of history. The first widespread public name calling i recall was at Nixon and had a dual obscene meaning using his nickname: Tricky Dick. I guess at that time it became common pratice not to use Mr president or Mr.

With todays programs on the radio from the far right and left there is a lot of negativity which began with Rush Limbal and has spread. On TV the inside politics program debates both pro and con on the president. It has become an entertainment business. Of course they must follow the FCC standards. Now public figures live in glass houses due to these shows. A lot of people on this board are rude in a personnal manner unfortunately. Keep it friendly and keep it clean is not followed. I have a thick skin myself because i know there are alot of people who become abusive when angry. That's just the only thing they can think to do and a sign of lower intelligence. A man who is trusted to be president needs composure. We can't have him falling apart in anger and losing his normal judgement when he's called names by hecklers. You have to be tough to lead. Now there is an off topic forum to vent or express your views.

If you can get yourself elected to congress or the senate you will have free medical care for life. Both parties voted for and approved that benefit for themselves. Look that fact up.

Healthcare should be a right for all americans. Matters of life and death and quality of life should be based on need not profit. Perhaps our forefathers and Thomas Jefferson didn't include healthcare in the Bill of Rights because there was little medical knowledge at that time and life expectancy was 40 years.

It all comes down to who pays for it. Is there any country that does it now so that me may use it as a model? I have never heard any politician coming up with a reasonable plan. I believe Vermont tried it and they are now neck deep in debt. I believe that if we had sensible tort reform the costs would go down. A great deal of the medical cost is for liability insurance. Kind of a lose/lose situation. What is a reasonable solution? Who will pay for it? If I was forced to supply health insurance for my employees I couldn't do it since it costs about a thousand dollars per month for the premium. My wife dislikes her job but stays because we need the health insurance. What to do?

My Dad was given care by the VA because he ended up in a hospital in Africa during WWII fighting for your right to free speech. Ask any veteran if they think they consider that to be socialized medicine. Personally, I consider it payback for a job well done.

Calling me ignorant was rude. Everyone is free to disagree with me on any issue. There was no need for name calling or disrespect of me or anyone else on this board. If you did respect other people on this board and their right to disagree you wouldn't have posted what you did. We can read, your posts didn't disappear.

If you feel i'm disrespectful of the president thats fine. We have freedom of speech in this country to speak for or against elected officals. He aint the worst or best and i think the price of fuel is a payback to the energy companies for supporting him. When he bailed out the airline industry with billons of taxpayers dollars, he could have gotten vouchers for goverment officals to travel for free in exchange for the bailout. He didn't, now the taxpayers pay again each time a goverment employee travels. That's not representing the taxpayer or americas best interest by saddling us with more national debt. Why wasn't it a loan with no interest? Was he paying back them back for campaign money or was that just poor leadership and decision making. He boasts of his tax cuts for upper incomes despite spending billions. I'm sure he himself does not care what i think of his performance.

Clinton came to be president from poverty without a father. He turned out to be dishonest to his wife and lied about that. He made mistakes like most people do at some time but more serious than most. In spite of that, He was a good leader and left the country strong without debt.

Bush came to be president because of his father and his connections to raise money and because of our electoral college voting system. Otherwise we would never have heard of him. Perhaps Mccain would be president, had he not been smeared early on. Now were in debt worst than before in less than 4 years, prices have skyrocketed on oil, steel, plywood, power and rumored concrete next and jobs are going offshore crippling economys in states like Ohio. He can't lower plywood, we are all paying for that to go over and rebuild Iraq. I hope we are better off in 4 years. My own business is off 50% and if interest rates rise so will your construction business. These are my opinions and observations. Feel free to disagree but don't disrespect me in doing so.

Now you have quite a dilema. You have to live in a country with socialized mail and partially socialized air travel. An oil industry socialized with the first 25% of profits tax free and Americans like me who will stand up to you for your rude behavior.

Yup, I agree, Burr. The federal gummint ain"t got no business in subsidizing prescription drugs, funding or controlling education or any of them other social engineering things that Bush has gotten passed. Gotta admit, that Clinton did real good when he signed the welfare reform bill, too. I guess that shows ain"t no administration so bad that nothing good could come of it, nor so good that something bad can"t come of it.

Clinton opening the strategic petroleum reserve had no effect on gas prices and was nothing more then political grandstanding. He did care about the average guy to the extent he could hoodwink them into buying his lip biting, "I really care about you" routine.

Under Bill Clinton, the deficit was eliminated due to massive cuts in defense spending, the benefit of lower interest rates and accounting gimmicks where liabilities like Social Security are taken out of the budget.

On a happier note, I checked my tool inventory(yes I'm a nerd that has an inventory of his tools) and I have seven 7/16 wrenches from Mac, Wright, Craftsman, SK, New Britain, Husky and SnapOn. I use mine on my mowers more then anywhere else.
