Saw a post from you sometime ago you changed your 550 generator/regulator for an alternator. Do you have the alternator information?

Old has it right. I used a single wire Delco altinator and wired it in.

I actually did my last 12 volt conversion on my ZAU Moline, and man what a difference it made on that tractor. It not only starts better, but by changing to a 12 volt coil, it seems to have more fire at the plugs and more HP than it has had in years. Im waiting to see if I burn out the points and condensor with the 12 volt coil.

Good luck

The easyest way is to get a delco one wire and put it on, that way all you need is a wire to the battery

Do just as Old says and you will enjoy your rig alot more. I know I do. I did keep the old generator though (just in case) I also provided a link below to the article Jake mentions.
Best of luck.

Look under articles under research & info and check "Upgrading the Oliver 55 electrical system". It shows the entire process the only weak point was the alternator bracket which vibrated too much, I cured this by welding a brace which supports the front of the alternator. I also found 12V starters for both never a starting problem.
