If you have an air compressor, it will actually be chaeper to spray paint your tractor vs rattlecanning it. Between priming the thing, then the cans of medium grey, and red... you go lots of spray cans tied up like um.. 30+ For a cheap job,( 1 coat prime, and 1 coat paint )a quart of primer, a quart of white, and a quart of red for spraying will do ya. Also get some hardner, and naptha / mineral spirits... that 40$ counting the 3qts paint, hardner, and a can of naptha and can of MS... Your job will look 3x better than a rattle can job.. not fade as fast.. and have a better shine. A cheap gun is all that is needed.. these are 9.99 - 14.99 at a chinese tool store or tsc, or walmart.. Also need a regulator and filter.. get disposable 6$ filter from carquest.. and 10$ cheapy regulator from TSC.. or get a 19$ reg/filter from chinese store.. or use the chinese reg and a disposable fitler.. your call. Going cheapest rout.. that's a 9$ reg, and 6$ filter, and 15$ gun.. that makes it 70$ if ya got an air compressor.. even a cheap pancake 2hp/4g unit... Rattle cans are what? 3$ In super cheap areas maybee primer is 2$.. if you figured 2$ @ 10 cans primer, and 3$ at 20 cans paint.. that's 80$.. and I don't think you will find rattle cans that cheap.. that puts you over the 70$ figure ont he spray setup..IF you have a compressor.. I'll post my last few tractors I've painted with my cheapy rig of 9$ gun, 19$ regulator, 6$ disposable filter, 89$ air compressor, (2) 4$ hoses, and BPS paint from tsc.. which is about 8$ per quart, or 24$ per gallon... hardner is about 8$ as well for a pint? that will treat a gallon... These were all painted outside, with some level of disassembly on the tin.. somestuff was painted while hanging then assembled.. some stuff masked.. some drop cloths.. etc.. just depends on the project.. etc..
