THE PROBLEM WITH THE LOWER LINK SUPPORT SHAFT IS THAT BOTH SIDES ARE LEAKING HYDRAULIC OIL. I HAVE THE FORD SHOP MANUAL FO-4 AND ON PAGE 81 PARAGRAPH 131-132 FIG. FO121 SHOWS THE WHOLE ASSEMBLY SECTION. AND IT SHOWS THE PART NUMBER 22 GOING THROUGH THE REAR AXLE ASSEMBLY AND BEHIND THAT SHAFT PART 23 IS CALLED AN EXPANSION PLUG. MY PROBLEM IS TO STOP THAT LEAK DO I HAVE TO DISASSEMBLE THE WHOLE REAR AXLE OR COULD THE LOWER LINK SUPPORT SHAFT BE REMOVED WITHOUT REMOVING THE WHOLE REAR AXLE ASSEMBLY.
THANK YOU JIM

Sorry, but you have to tear it down to fix it. Also, the expansion plug you are refering to is for where the brake shaft fits into the axle housing. The lower link shaft has a nut on the inside of the housing. You'll have to pull an axle housing to get to them. Good luck!!
