Loren, I went out again last night to mow some more and found my wallet that I lost out there 4 months ago. The mower had hit it and blown it open but all the credit cards were still there. All the cash was missing but it could be under a grass heap too. I thought I'd never see it again.
I'm on the clip, clip,clip program because I don't want to spray. I found it encouraging what these guys had to say to just run some stock and it will recover. That's what i'm gonna do. I wanted to get all my tillage done (if necessary)before I put up fences. There hasn't been livestock on the place for 20 yrs so that will be a chore. I often look at the grass while I'm mowing and think how dumb it is to burn 2.50/gal gas to mow something a cow could eat. I may not be any good, but at least I'm slow- livestock here we come.
I'm in Newberg- what part of the state are you in?

You're a more fortunate man than I. I'm looking at borrowed land with no chance of using stock to help out. That's why it's been 3 years since I first looked into this and still haven't started. I know in my gut I should just forget it but it's all just sitting there! The caretaker won't make ANY agreement at all, so niether of us would have even an spec of protection. The old fella that was working it passed so it sits. I'm in the south end of the valley. I really think just removing the scotch broom, mowing the blackberries, killing the Queen Annes Lace, and fertilizing a bit would make a good go of it. It grows a reasonable amount of grass now.
