Why are we looking at importing more beef just to export more beef? If the Canacian beef cattle are so clean and healthy, then why don't you guys lobby the Japaneese to buy your beef?

I personally think that consumers should resist the "global economy" and push to buy food products, whenever possible from more local sources.

I personally think that producers should resist the "global economy" too. Of course this will mean that you can no longer shop a Wal-Mart, drive a Ford, GM, Dodge or buy a John Deere.
In most cases you'll find that the people promote protectionism have their own agenda. Unfortunately that usually involves somehow bending over the buyer, customer, or consumer without the benefit of a kiss.
Come on guys the Canadians aren't guilty of something malicious. We feed the same thing for years. What if the shoe was on the other foot.

CORRECTO!!!!! There is no "here" on this board, as in 'cattle should not be allowed into (here)this country'. Lots of Canadian (some of 'em may even be Canadiens) posters on this board; I even consider some of them to be my friends..... ..... ...I'm much more concerned with the "more" (U.S.)gov't interference coming down the pike than I am the importation of Canadian beef; are you prepared to micro-chip EACH of your cattle? it's coming..... ..... .
