I know it has been a couple of months since the last post but I am going to give it a shot anyway. We purchased a TM800 mower 2 years ago and unfortunately ours has been nothing but trouble. After the first season, a weld that held one side of the cutter bar to the machine broke free and the cutter bar fell. Fortunately, Vermeer covered this repair although it had been just over the warrantly period. This year I notice a small ticking sound in the mower when it was cutting, but when the mower was raised it would run to full power with no noise. I could not detect any metal to metal contact so I continued to mow until the mower stopped. After taking it to the shop, it was discovered that a shaft had sheared. While in for the repair, the shop ended up breaking the "bolt" that holds everything together to break the machine down. I was told the bolt was torqued to 1000 pounds and didn't break free, by specs it should have been torqued to 750 pounds. So, my experience of 3 "major" manufcaturing type flaws has me a bit concerned. I am considering trading the mower in.....with that said I am considering trading it on another TM800. The mower does very well in Bermuda hay, and the "quick" change blades are worth their weight in gold. I am hoping my current TM is a lemon and my dealer and Vermeer will do me right on a trade..... I am actually dealing with this as I write this. I'll update when I resolve. Email me if you would like additional information.
