Had to remove engine from mine a while back to do some work on it. We took the engine out. Have a komatsu forklift whixch did make it easy. Just an idea, I assume it is the engine oil seal leaking?

Yes--it's the rear seal on the engine.

When (and if) I get the PTO unit off, I'm going to replace the seals on that also. Since it is off already.

I'm thinking I may place a block of wood or something under that RR corner of the engine to support it. Since the other three mounts are still in place, there shouldn't be that much weight on it when the gearbox is removed.

Just be careful what part of the engine you support. Not looking at it now but the oil pan is only pressed metal if original. We replaced it with a cast one from a tractor, had trouble with that gasket leaking. Let us know how you go with it.
