The standard weight for fuel (gasoline) is 6lb/ gallon or .763 kg/L water is ... 1kg/liter or 7.86 lb/gal. Thus we use 8lbs/gal as the standard for water.

FYI

I have heard of "heavy water" (D2O, 1.1 kg/liter) before but not your "lighter water"... :-) Don't know what is in your water to make it so light, but most water is about 8.33 lbs/gallon... Link WATER PROPERTIES HERE. Jim

Alright...
I figured I would get called on quoting the weight of gas when I knew it was somewhat lighter. I just wanted to make the point that you've got some weight to consider moving around in that tank, thus the baffle(s). Not really a problem even in a car unless you drive the way I did 30 years ago! Thanks for the clairification & enlightenment, guys.

Math error. I was using a diet Pepsi can for a conversion factor... 12 fl oz. (355ml).

1 kg/liter * 2.2lb/kg* 1 liter/ 1000ml *355ml/12 fl oz. *128 fl oz/gallon. = 8.33lb/gal.

I miss-read the can as 375ml = 12 oz.

Jeff
