New TO-35 Update

Well I went to TSC and bought the I&T Service manual for my new TO35. After reading through the hydraulics section I felt confident that I could figure out the problem with the draft control. After a few hours I ended up with the top lift cover off and had diagnosed the problem. The draft control rod had popped off of the control link pin. There is supposed to be a snap ring to hold it on, but it's MIA! A new $0.39 snap ring and I am back in business! With the manual I was able to adjust the levers/springs. Everything SHOULD be all set. I decided to change the hydraulic fluid since what is in there looks like lowfat chocolate milk. From this site I learned that GL-1 90 wt mineral oil should be used. But I can't find it yet...looked at Wal-Mart, TSC, Auto-Zone, etc. All they have is GL3 thru GL5. Where does everybody else get the GL-1 stuff? I need to get it filled up and back together by tomorrow night...they are calling for 6-9" lake effect snow!

Hi Guys
I just what to add I get my oil from my massey dealer he sells it in bulk, He has it in heavy weight and light weight only cost me 42.00 for six gallons. The other dealer close to me sells it for around 80.00 so shop around.

Justin: Is there a shell station nearby? Their product is called Dentax 80w90. That's what I use in my 35.

Justin,

At TSC they sell the GL-1 oil as FORD Tranmission Fluid. It doesn't specificly say GL- anything. Although at one point I think it did. However, it is made for the N series which uses the same fluid.

Not all Wally world carry the 5 gal oil containers. I have to go to the ones that are outside the city.

forgot: the TSC in quakertown, pa has the oil, comes in two gallon black containers.

I'm glad it all worked out for you most of the time its that easy...then sometimes nothing goes right..the manuals are invalueable and so is this Board.
My NAPA guy's order my oil for me , try them..

To create the link to my previous post, I opened the original post, copied the address (or URL). Then I created the new post, and at the bottom I pasted the address in the "Optional Link URL" box and gave it a title in the "Link Title" box. To paste the picture in the original poste, I loaded the picture into the "Tractor Photos" on this site. After it is loaded, go to the picture, right click, go to properties. In the properties box copy the picture URL. Paste this in the "Optional Image URL" box when you create a post and your picture will show up.
