I have a 56 311 round nose that I started to work on the other day. The tach cable was broken and I need a replacement for it as well as a gas tank sending unit with float, amp gauge, and temp sending unit with gauge. Does anyone have a line on these typeof parts or maybe have some they would want to sell Thanks Mike

I forgot to address the tach cable. The cable core is a weak link. Many cable cores that are broken (twisted off) is a symptom of a frozen tach drive in the gauge movement.

Check your tach this way. Looking at the back of the tachometer, if you spin the brass drive sleeve CW with your fingers the pointer should jump. Dont force it with pliers, use your fingers only.

The link is a thread that is relative. 311B is the same as the older 300.

'56 311 was factory 6v, I haven't found any new sender that is compatible with the existing 6v gas gauge movement.

Amp gauge is not voltage sensitive, will work on either 6v or 12v.

The mechanical temperature gauge is obsolete, no new drop in replacement. They can be repaired, very spendy, $200 - $300.

If you convert the tractor to 12v, electrical gauge movements and senders are available for both gas & temperature and installed in the gauge board with the existing gauge faceplates function & look as original. Pos or neg ground is not an issue.

Roger Hornbaker does 300 gauge board and instrument repair & refurbishment. He can provide some other hard to find 300 parts as well. You won't deal with a more honest or nicer person.

John Saeli has the cables. You can find his contact number via his ebay store front.

John may have the sending unit, but if not I would bet that NAPA auto parts has it, they have a lot of stuff for old tractors.
