B hydraulics barely working

I recently had my B pump apart. Randy is correct - you really, really need that manual for the instructions and pictures it contains. I assume you are talking about the stock pump. It is not a gear pump but is a piston type that operates off two cam lobes on the pto shaft.

Your problem could just be increasingly poor seating in either of the two piston discharge valves (they are a ball, a ball seat and a spring) or the relief seat, also a ball/seat/spring combination. It could be something else too, but those are the two areas I'd check into first.

If you get a Service Manual it has a great section on the hydraulic pump...great pictures, too. Well worth the money.

I got a C not too long ago where the hydraulic pump did want to work and I drained some thick goo out of the transmission, cleaned it out with a little kerosene, and put some new hydraulic/transmission fluid in it. Works like a new one now!
