B/C Hydraulic Pump

Finding this situation, I took my pump apart to a limited extent to see if I could better define the leak-down problem. Most likely it would have to be with one or both of the discharge valve seats/balls/springs or in the relief valve area. To my surprise, there was no ball in the relief valve. Apparently someone had taken the pump apart in the past and lost the ball. Lucky for me, my wife had a collection of ball bearings over the years and I was able to find a 3/16" ball that works perfectly and solved my leakdown problem at no out-of-pocket cost.

I suggest anyone contemplating purchasing used pumps of unknown condition keep the above in mind.

According to the A&T manual that I have, your G pump is very different from the B/C pump. It is a more conventional gear type pump rather than a piston type as is the one for the B/C. The relief valve appears to be similar, however. The source that I was referring to does not list a rebuilt G pump in their catalog. The only ones listed are for B/C, CA and WD, WD45 - all piston pumps. I am not aware of any other potential sources.

I suggest you get both the service and parts manuals for the G (not the A&T one - it's not detailed enough) and do a little investigating. It may be something simple/obvious like mine was. The relief valve area would be considered suspect and a place to start, especially if oil can be pumped out an open hose. Once you get an idea where the problem might be, check with AGCO to see what parts are available individually and what the cost might be. The cost/kit situation may be quite different with your pump. I just don't know.
