I have a 1949 Model G. Is it true that all model G tractors have the extra low gear, but some adjustment must be made to make some operate.

Did a search and found this in the archive. It was posted by Eldon (WA) last year who was just posting today. If he sees this, possibly he can tell you more.

All G's have the low gear...it is a common misconception that it was an option since the G uses the B transmission case which shows only 3 forward gears in the shift pattern. The 4th gear was only shown by a decal on the battery box lid, which wore off or the lid got taken off.
Sometimes the shift linkage gets messed up inside and the low gear appears to not be there. BTW, it is all the way to the right and forward.

Amazing what a simple search will turn up!

There is a fellow on the "other" AC board who sold a lot of G's in his day who says they all came with low low gears.....all I can say is I haven't found one yet that didn't have it.

I'll get the parts manual and take a look. Don't have it here but that might just help the memory ;-). I do remember something unusual about the G and it's gear sets.
