Someone give me the basic rundown on a 'G'.

Electrical system ( regulator or cutout? Battery ignition I assume?

(visiting from the ford N forum)

And does anybody got a hood for sale?

I have a neighbor, an AC man, who has several Gs as well as implements that he no longer uses. He is notorious around here for never selling anything but I will check with him and post back if he is interested in selling tractors, parts, or implements.

Your little G Continental engine is just over 1/2 of your N engine, souNdguy.

OK. I do not see the owner too often - usually once or twice a month but will check and post back if he is willing to part with anything. He has a 50+ year collection of old AC stuff, nearly all stored outside: WCs, WDs, 45s 17, as well as the Gs and miscellaneous implements. Still uses the D-19.

New hoods show up from time to time on ebay from oem tractor parts ( they make a bunch of IHC stuff, very good quality ). Got any lines on where to pick up G implements??

The low down is that it is a good little tractor. It is also quite unique and quite popular, therefore the parts are relatively expensive (like your hood). A lot of people are still using them in market gardens and similar operations, my neighbor being one of them.

The link below will give you many specs on them, but basically it's a N62 Contential engine, and a modified B transmission turned to face the other way. Engine parts are available through NAPA, and AGCO still carries many parts as well. The hardest thing I've fixed on my neighbors was replacing the rear axle bearings.

I'd be happy to try to help you out with any specific questions.
