where to get Persian Orange?

BEWARE!! There are 2 Persian Orange colors. Persian Orange #1 was used up to 1960, when the D15 became the first Allis to wear Persian Orange #2. That year the cream-colored wheels also were new. If your tractor is pre-'60 please paint it right! I saw a WD45 diesel at a show that was flawless--except it was orange #2. Screwed the whole thing up. Also, in the early '70s Allis went to 'Corporate Orange' which had more red than Persian Orange #2. Ditzler makes Persian Orange #1 in acrylic enamel. Most other 'Allis Orange' commercial paints are Persian Orange #2. Hope this helps.

That's an outrageous price for any enamel and I would doubt that the version carried by AGCO would be considered a "high end" paint by any means. I would forget AGCO on that. Check out PPG if you have a local dealer in their automotive paint lines. Check with where your local bodyshops get their paint. PPG's OMNI line of enamels and urethanes are very cost effective for their quality. If you are looking for the early persian orange (#1, so called) it would be OMNI MAE 60080 in acrylic enamel and OMNI MTK 60080 in acrylic urethane. Two years ago I got OMNI MTK 60080 for about $54/ ready-to-spray gallon. See this post for my cost breakdown. If you are looking for the later persian orange (#2, so called) then just change the number to 60396 instead of 60080. here's a visual color comparison between the two and an original PO #1 painted part. The comparison was done with MAE rather than MTK but the relative color shades would be the same. Two years ago the MAE was about $12-$13 per quart.
