I agree, it's over-priced. The MAE costs seem to be way out of line. But so is the cost of Delstar, at least nowadays. Butch had a source for orange DAR at $165/gal. It is an excellent paint but it has priced itself right out of the market considering the lower cost alternatives. No wonder I can't find a PPG jobber within a hundred miles of me that stocks the mix tints for it.

I was surprised to not find the OMNI MTK on the site. When I last bought some two years ago at a local jobber, I paid $51.50 for a gal (orange cost class), $25.51 for a qt of MH168 slow hardener and $15.78 for a gal of MR186 med reducer. That's walk-in, off-the-street prices - no special discount. At a mix ratio of 4:1:1 color:reducer:hardener, that calculates out to $54 per RTS gal if you take a credit for the 3 qts of leftover reducer. I am sure it is somewhat more today but it still provides a very good value for a reasonable price. I have used quite a bit of Delstar in years past and liked it a lot. Is it so great that it is worth three times the cost of the MTK? No. Not in my opinion. However, the site is a source for anyone who can't get it in their local area and wishes to pay the price.

Today's Featured Article - Product Review - by Staff. When we finally checked out the 3000 PSI North Star, the whole story chaned. This unit was equipped with an 11 HP Honda engine with fuel shutoff, adjustable flow and optional syphon degreaser dispenser. It didn't have a pressure release or electric start to facilitate easy starting but according to the instructions, simply pulling on the trigger while cranking was sufficient. This method of starting proved more than adequate and kept the cost down on the unit. It had all the important ... [Read Article]
