I have used an 1 1/4" pipe tap to tap out the older manifolds, cut into a 1 1/4" pipe nipple so I have about three inches of pipe above the manifold, Have the muffler pipe expanded and use a muffler clamp to hold it in place. A new manifold is fairly tight. I did it a little different on my C that I pull. I used the top threads to expand the exaust pipe to two inches.

Thanks. Will try it. I also saw a B recently that had its muffler above and parallel to the top of the hood. Makes it easier going under trees. They must have had it threaded and installed elbows too. Thanks again

47 B WOULD HAVE HAD THE UNDER THE HOOD MUFFLER, NOT THE TALL ONE AS THE CA USED. THE CA MUFFLER HAS A BRACKET ATTACHED WITH 2 HOLES IN IT, AND THE MANIFOLD ALSO HAS 2 HOLES TO GIVE THE TALL MUFFLER SUPPORT
HAVE FUN WORKING ON YOUR ALLIS'.
