I have had a problem keeping my B exhaust pipe tight in the manifold. It seems to be held in by a single bolt through to the outside which is holding a short pipe passing through through the hood. The muffler then sits on the pipe. Problem is the pipe coming loose from vibration or hitting branches. Any better solutions to attach this pipe to the manifold? The OEM muffler has the side tab shown which uses the same bolt so it does not seem to be a modification. It also is larger in diameter than the hole in my hood allows. Is it possible somewhere along the way a different hood or engine ended up on my B? Thanks for your help.

I have used an 1 1/4" pipe tap to tap out the older manifolds, cut into a 1 1/4" pipe nipple so I have about three inches of pipe above the manifold, Have the muffler pipe expanded and use a muffler clamp to hold it in place. A new manifold is fairly tight. I did it a little different on my C that I pull. I used the top threads to expand the exaust pipe to two inches.

Thanks. Will try it. I also saw a B recently that had its muffler above and parallel to the top of the hood. Makes it easier going under trees. They must have had it threaded and installed elbows too. Thanks again

47 B WOULD HAVE HAD THE UNDER THE HOOD MUFFLER, NOT THE TALL ONE AS THE CA USED. THE CA MUFFLER HAS A BRACKET ATTACHED WITH 2 HOLES IN IT, AND THE MANIFOLD ALSO HAS 2 HOLES TO GIVE THE TALL MUFFLER SUPPORT
HAVE FUN WORKING ON YOUR ALLIS'.
